Day out

Well yesterday, Sunday the 18th of July, was a great day. For the first time since the 7th of March in 2020, I managed a day out with Droitwich Camera club. The last time we had been photograph my ex pupil and now good friend Charis, this time we went to the Shelsey Walsh hill climb. This was my first visit to this event, but I will make a prediction, it won’t be my last.

The day was certainly hot and the amount of sunlight meant I had to take portraits in the shade. However, such a great set of fans. Particular thanks to the site crew, who were particularly supportive of a disabled visitor and all the members of the public who helped me get around. If they hadn’t I suspect I would probably still be there. Thanks as well to our days out co-ordinator, Pat C and to Martin G for giving me a lift over. Also a big thanks to the Midlands Motoring club’s Pat and her husband whose name escapes me. They lent me a chair and a borrow of the clubs gazebo for lunchtime. This was a life saver.

This was my first camera club excursion with the Z50 and I am really pleased by the quality of the images, for a starter they are in focus and DSLR around, and it was a crop sensor one too. Nice lot of portraits done and a big thanks to all those who posed for me. I also managed some car shots but they aren’t really my thing.

What helped was leaving by about 1:30 as the temperature reached potentially life threatening levels for me.

If I can get back I will but maybe not on as hot a day.
